Moving Checklist

8 Weeks Before

Research and book your moving company (that's us!) Create a moving budget and timeline Start decluttering - donate, sell, or discard unwanted items Begin collecting packing supplies or book our packing service Notify your landlord if renting (check lease for notice requirements) Research your new neighborhood - schools, services, amenities

6 Weeks Before

Start packing rarely used items (seasonal decor, books, etc.) Arrange to transfer or set up utilities at your new home Update your address with Canada Post (mail forwarding) Notify your employer of your address change Arrange school transfers for children if applicable Schedule disconnection of utilities at your current home

4 Weeks Before

Confirm your moving date and details with Macho Movers Continue packing room by room - label all boxes clearly Arrange care for pets and children on moving day Update your address with banks, insurance, and subscriptions Back up important digital files and documents Plan the layout of your new home - where will furniture go?

2 Weeks Before

Pack most of your remaining belongings Confirm utility connections at your new home Clean out and defrost your freezer Return library books, rented equipment, etc. Arrange parking permits for moving trucks if needed Prepare a box of essentials (toiletries, snacks, chargers, meds)

1 Week Before

Finish packing all non-essential items Disassemble furniture that needs it (or let our team handle it) Take photos of electronics setups before disconnecting Confirm all details with Macho Movers one final time Pack a suitcase with clothes for the first few days Clean your current home as you pack

Moving Day

Do a final walkthrough of your old home Be available to direct the moving crew Keep your essentials box and valuables with you Check all closets, cabinets, and storage areas before leaving Lock up and hand over keys to your old home Inspect your new home before unloading begins

After the Move

Unpack essentials first - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom Check that all boxes and items arrived Update your driver's license and vehicle registration Register with a new family doctor if applicable Meet your new neighbors Leave a review for Macho Movers (we appreciate it!)
